Important basics on Lice Prevention!

Prevention is always better than cure. We all know that. You should gather information about lice so that you know how you can prevent lice from attacking you. It will cost you less as compared to spending your money on lice treatments.

There are various forms of lice including head and body lice. Head lice find settle in your hair. Take note that it doesn’t mean that your hair is not clean enough as most are often led to think. On the contrary they are found more in squeaky clean hair. It makes it easier for then to cling on.

But that does not mean you have to neglect your hair. Head lice prevention involves good hygiene. This means you have to take care who you share your hair accessories with. Particularly the comb because it can easily pick up the lice or the eggs and remain on the comb.

Your head towel and pillows should also not be shared. These things are relatively cheap so buy everyone their own pillows and combs. If you have long hair then I have bad news for you. Lice settle in better for longer hair than the shorter version. Trim your hair shorter so you can be on the safe side.

If you don’t foresee yourself trimming your hair then you will just have to take the extra caution. Research more on lice treatments so you know what to do when you are infected. It’s not instant that you will be infected since you have long hair, but you are more prone to them.

Lice killing shampoo is available in stores and pharmacy. Just inquire around and you are sure to find them on the shelves. However his is more a treatment to lice than a strategy that can be used to prevent lice. So do not use it if you do not have lice in your head.

Do not wear or share clothes with anyone if you do not want any body lice. It’s not as common as head lice but it does not mean that you should give it a deaf ear. Make sue you have clean sheets regularly. Change your sheets as often as you can.

Unfortunately, there is not much on lice prevention other than the basic ‘don’t share this and that’ but if you follow that your risk of being infested with lice is reduced. I shudder to think that some tiny little creature could be crawling on me.
